Midwinter Conference in Aruba

Aruba is one of the most southern Caribbean islands. It offers sun drenched shores and near perfect weather year round. WUCA headed to Aruba for its 30th annual Midwinter Conference February 7 – 11,2018. This conference was held at the Aruba Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino.

Aruba is an independent country within the Kingdom of the Netherlands and has a population of approximately 104,000 inhabitants. The official languages are Dutch and Papiamento, but English and Spanish are also very widely spoken. The island is 21 miles long, 6 miles wide and has an area of about 75 square miles. Aruba is mainly flat with a few hills and is renowned for its white sandy beaches. Aruba is located south of the hurricane belt which means that it rarely rains for extended periods. The climate is mostly dry and doesn’t allow for a lot of vegetation. Constant trade winds cool the island and the temperature is about 82 degrees year round.

Delegates enjoyed group meetings, dinners, island tours and sailing and snorkeling.
