2020 Donate to Make-A-Wish

The Wisconsin Underground Contractors Association, Inc. has held its annual dinner and auction to raise funds for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Wisconsin for many years. Your generosity over the years has helped fulfill the Make-A-Wish mission, the essence of which is providing hope.

Unfortunately, we will not be able to gather this year for the annual WUCA dinner and charity auction to benefit Make-A-Wish due to the pandemic.  But, we are reaching out to remind our members and friends to support Make-A-Wish.  Wishes provide what medicine cannot – extraordinary and memorable experiences that allow children to take their focus off the illness and provide a sense of renewed normalcy. Research shows that when a wish is granted, the child can build the physical and emotional strength they need to fight their illnesses, potentially improving their quality of life and producing better health outcomes.  Instead of focusing on endless medical procedures, wish children focus on the details of their wish. And, for families focused on treatment of their child, it is simply impossible to fully focus on much else.  A wish gives a child the ability to give something to their family, and to bring them joy.

Now imagine the reality of wish granting in a pandemic.  From a funding standpoint, events are cancelled or delayed, and so fundraising is down.  Wishes are delayed too.  But life-threatening illnesses do not decrease in a pandemic.  More than 430 wishes are waiting – more than ever before.  There will be huge demand as the pandemic subsides.

Even though the WUCA dinner and auction has been cancelled for this year due to COVID-19, you may wish to help pay it forward with a gift to Make-A-Wish Wisconsin.  Last year you generously helped us raise over $45,000.  Help us set a new record this year.

Wish kids need YOU to provide hope. Thank you for your consideration. Stay safe and be well.
